2021 set new records for women and Black CFOs

More is more

Businesses in the S&P 500 and Fortune 500 employed more Black and women CFOs (chief financial officers) in 2021 than ever before. This reflects efforts within America’s largest companies to step up inclusion and representation in their C-suites — but progress has been slow, to say the least. The number of companies with Black CFOs nearly doubled… from 12 in 2020 to 20 in 2021. Meanwhile, the number of women CFOs hit an all-time high of 101 (15.1% of all CFOs). Recruiters expect the numbers to grow faster in 2022, despite obstacles. The CFO position has seen an uptick in turnover, which actually creates an opportunity to recruit more diverse candidates and see some serious financial upside. A recent study found that stocks of US companies with more inclusive boardrooms performed better than those without. And with companies hiring fewer external candidates for CFO roles, there's a good chance your company’s next leader could already be in the building.
